Mission

The Reparations Interfaith Coalition (RIC) is a Massachusetts-based alliance of ethical and faith communities committed to pursuing reparative justice for Black and Indigenous peoples.

We are committed to learning about and sharing, especially with other white communities, the hard truths of our state’s historical links to slavery, land theft, and Jim Crow, as well as continuing forms of institutional racism including the racial wealth gap and mass incarceration.  We affirm the imperatives of acknowledging and addressing the consequences of these harms in solidarity with Black-led and Indigenous-led national, state, and local organizations. To these ends, our goals encompass education, advocacy, and resource distribution: our hope is for healing and liberation for all.

Though as individuals we have been involved in this work for some time, we are not experts; we embrace reparative learning with humility and dedication. Furthermore, RIC itself is relatively new, and evolving, as we seek partnership with all Massachusetts religious, spiritual, and ethical communities that share our mission.  The programs we offer focus on local and statewide reparative efforts, in addition to collaborations with national movements. RIC recognizes that allies of Black and Indigenous groups must step up our efforts to acknowledge historical wrongs – and take action.
